Depression is something that affects around 1 in 7-8 people in America each year. By far one of the biggest mental illnesses around today, it can have severe consequences on a person’s health. If you suffer with depression there are various treatments you can try out. Medications and counselling can be really effective. However, if you don’t like the sound of that then there are alternative therapies available. Inca Peanuts and the oil produced from it is just one of them.
What are Inca Peanuts?
Taken from the Sacha Inchi plant, the peanut produces oil rich in Omega 3 and 6. It also contains plenty of vitamins and anti-oxidants. The plant originates in the Peruvian jungle and natives there have been using it for health purposes for thousands of years. When you look at the plant you’ll see that it contains these nuts also referred to as Inca Nuts. The oil comes from these nuts and compared to many other natural oils, this one is highly digestible.
Inca Peanuts and it’s oil are used for many purposes. It can be taken orally where you have 1-2 teaspoons each day. Or it can be used cosmetically. Over recent years, this oil has been used in hair and cosmetic products. It has been found to benefit the skin; particularly dry, sensitive skin conditions.
What makes this oil so unique is the amount of Omega 3 that it contains. It is almost 50% pure omega 3. It is this which makes it so good at fighting depression.
How Omega 3 Battles Depression
Canadian researchers have found that Omega 3 can help to effectively improve the symptom of depression. The study was carried out on those without anxiety alongside their depression. The actual results were quite impressive. It was found that Omega 3 can be just as effective at reducing the symptoms of depression as antidepressants.
Medical experts became interested in omega 3 as a potential anti-depressant when they looked into different countries depression levels. It was found that countries which ate a lot of fish had a lower rate of depression. Since then a lot of research has been carried out all over the world into the benefits of this great oil.
Inca Peanuts and the oil it produces aren’t just great for treating the symptoms of depression. Omega 3 has all kinds of other benefits including lowering your risk of heart disease, improving your hair and skin and lowering your risk of cancer. So if you haven’t yet tried this great oil, now may definitely be the time to do so!

Well maacdaima nuts, how about that.
Lupus. One doc said Guillan Barre. Another said I was mentally ill and nedeed a psychiatrist. I am in Toastmasters. I wanted to be president. I got elected. But golly. I didn’t imagine that I would be in the middle of speaking and go absolutely blank. Our club was losing members left and right and I totally felt responsible. (regardless of the fact that they were moving out of state or having a baby). The emotional toll is still on going. I have a nine year old and a five year old. And a husband. They were helpless and frustrated. When would our Mommy come back? She was the one that kept the house happy. That’s when Linda found you Lyndsay. I didn’t think I’d ever speak to a human each time I called the Austin office (I kept getting voicemail!!!) But Lindsay made a phone call and they called me!I got an appointment in 4 weeks. Well enough sadness.. 6 weeks of treatment and I started noticing a change. My work was the first to improve. Then the numbness went away. The horrible visual changes stopped. The fatigue lessened. I felt better. I started doing more and more. After feeling so bad, and then feeling better, I pushed myself into a relapse the week before I was supposed to go to Austin for a follow up. (I lost my vision and was numb again on my left side) I was so mad. Why was this happening? I was doing so much better. We tweaked the treatment and tried some new things and added other things, and I started feeling better again. With all the tests I took we found a syrinx in my spine. So I’m dealing with that now, but the viral neuropathy is under control.I did have to get hearing aids and stronger glasses, and I’m regaining strength in my left side, but for the most part, I use a cane on bad days, but I am better. I am not going to push myself so hard. If you hadn’t been so open about Teagan, I might STILL be suffering. I can’t thank you enough. We will be in Austin in June. This time with the kids (I hope). I do hope it will happen where we can actually see each other and maybe our kiddos can play! Wouldn’t that be great!Thank you a million times over. With all my love,Janine DeckardAmarillo TX
- Sweet Duder,You changed my life as well yours. I have no doubt in my mind that our rtlieaonship is a direct blessing from Jesus. For both of us. I fell in love with you long before we met. Your mommy would post things about you that reminded me so much of my own little boy. Your buddy, Andy. When you got sick, I knew I had to be persistent and convince your parents to do some very crazy seeming things. A LOT of prayer went into our time (treatment sessions) together. Some times, I would wake up in the middle of the night with a vision of what to do with you the next day. I know your mommy thought I was a little nutty at first. But God opened my mind to treat you and your mommy’s heart to allow me the freedom to try new, unconventional things. Things that clearly worked for you. Things that I discovered and learned more about because of you. Yes, sweet boy, because of our connection, you are much better. But because of YOU, I am such a better therapist and mommy to my own sweet babies. Because of YOU, I have opened my home to help other families. To share God’s love with them and come along besides their families in search of healing. Before you, I was stuck in the rehab/medical model of OT. Because of you, I am now confident that I am to offer more. So much more, to families searching for answers. Families like yours. So, Teagan, thank you. Thank you for trusting me. For telling your mommy with your eyes, that Miss Marti is good people. Please trust her. when I would put that funky music in your ears and play silly games with you. Thank you for encouraging me to be still and listen. To have a passion for finding answers. To treat with my heart and remember why I have this degree to begin with. As you know, I am so very proud of you and know intimately what you went through and how strong you are. Because of you, I am determined to meet other families like yours and help them to be brave and strong like you. Thank you, sweet Duder. And thank you, Lyndsay for allowing me to try . It didn’t hurt
Hey, that’s a clever way of thniknig about it.
That’s a smart way of looinkg at the world.
Megan – I stumbled upon your blog via Michele Anderson’s wesitbe. On a professional level, I am a clinician/social worker so I found demyelination very interesting in how it potentially relates to Autism/PDD. I had never heard of demyelination before and started doing some research. On a personal level, I have a list of symptoms that I have struggled with but have been better controlled over the past 2 yrs since I started eating GF and limiting my dairy intake. I remember how difficult it was for me to take that on; I can’t even imagine the challenges you faced in overhauling your entire lifestyle. I recently read your entry about candida. I was amazed by the symptoms when I looked it up on the internet. The next day I made an appointment with my GI dr. Thank you so much for sharing your story and the details of your journey (although I STILL wonder how you find the time to post!). You truly have helped so many people. Thank you!! Teagan: You are so courageous, strong, and brave. Reading the posts from you momma as she tells your story brings up so many feelings. It must have been so scary for you when you could not talk. I’m so glad you are feeling healthy and you have your words again. You have been through so much as a little guy and you have faced many challenges; this will surly prepare you for the challenges you will encounter in the future. Godspeed.
- Lyndsay, Teagan’s story has definitely toehucd me My heart broke for your whole family so many times over the past months. This morning I’m sitting at work in tears because I can’t imagine what it was like for Teagan, but to hear from his point of view is just incredible. He’s such a sweet, gorgeous little man and to see him in your images from okay, to bad, to healing has been heart-wrenching and inspiring.I’ve shared your post on the natural bedroom several times. I mentioned to some friends that I was thinking of an Ikea crib because of the environmental features and they scoffed at the quality saying that it wouldn’t last through 4 kids like the first one they bought did. I think WAY more now about what I’m eating and how it’s impacting my overall health. I also think I need to get my DH tested for food allergies. I think it’s a very real possibility that he has them but has no idea that’s what they are.Probably the biggest thing I’ve taken away from this personally is that when I have children, I MUST keep them safe. If that means going through 20 doctors, keeping them away from their favorite food, whatever. They have to be able to trust that their parents love them enough to fight for what they need in order to be healthy, happy individuals.*hugs*

As Charlie Sheen says, this atrilce is “WINNING!”
Tracy – Hearing Teagan’s story and knowing you thorguh a fabulous group of women on The Nest has made me more of a health advocate and health literate parent. Working in the field of public health I’ve always been an advocate for vaccines and for informed decision making. Knowing Teagan’s story has made me more vigilant in communicating to adults, parents, etc the benefits, risks, etc of vaccines. Not just handing them the VIS sheet, but taking the time with every person to make sure they understood what they read, giving them the option to weigh the risks/benefits before they choose or not choose to vaccinate. It’s also encouraged me to advocate others to be more health literate and advocate on behalf of themselves and/or their children. All too often I just take the word of doctors as doctrine because they are supposed to have our best interest in mind when making decisions. Being better informed helps me to feel empowered. Thank you Teagan.
- Hey Lindsay,I just had to comment as a fmeror kindergarten, in a Texas public school. I always had kids that had special diet requirements whether they were diabetic or allergic. At the beginning of the year, or whenever the child was diagnosised, either the mom, me or school nurse would have a chat with the whole class and tell them why the child could not eat certain foods. Usually, at least to the best of my knowledge, the students were very good to each other and would even say, You aren’t supposed to eat that. Or on Valentines Day I would include a note saying, Remember Robbie can’t have sugar so please include something non-sweet for him. My parents always complied and I kept a secret stash for him just in case. The school I taught at was lower economic students so there is hope. You just have to be an advocate and educate them. Hope to see you in June when we come back to see Dr. T and Dr. S.
Nia – Just to give you a little gemlmir of hope Jayden’s only 4 and he’s very good about not sharing food b/c he understands, now, that other people’s foods will hurt his tummy (candy and sweets is another story but it’s not allowed in class and on party days we get a note to send him something extra special and then he’s watched closely). He’s been on a special diet for 2 yrs now, so there is hope that soon Taryn will learn not to share food, It all is just so brand new to her now and unfortunately, if the pain she’s feeling is not extreme pain, she won’t understand right away why she cannot have it. To a 5 yr old she probably feels like she’s being punished but I bet she will get it soon enough! Good luck to you and I hope the schools get better at this soon.
